Monday's labs came back looking pretty good:
White Cells 2.9 (a little low, but flucuation is ok)
Hemoglobin 10.4
Platelets 55 (low, but holding. platelets are one of the last things to recover)
ANC 2000
Her liver numbers (ALT 168 and AST 126) are down from where they were and that is good. They were getting very high....attributed to both the BK virus and her meds. It is also a high number that they expect and see with almost every child. The fact that they are coming down means that her meds are under control and that likely the BK virus number is dropping. They will run another BK lab on Friday in Cincy so that we'll know exactly what is going on with that. Results should be back by Monday.
Otherwise things look good. Leah is off her steroids now! Yeah! And has weaned her Cyclosporine dose by half. Both of those drugs were used to tame Mae's cells and prevent Graft vs Host disease. We have seen no flare ups of GVH which is a great sign. She also continues to show 100% donor cells.
While the chest pain is gone, her headaches are persisting. Another topic we'll discuss on Friday.
I'm finding peace and joy in the mundane. Laundry, mopping....beautiful. The laughter, the arguments of my children....music to me. I've missed them all so much. To see my husband every day, go to bed with him every night, cook him dinner....makes me the happiest woman alive.
Tonight I'm out to celebrate National Margarita Day with my girls Karen and Brandi (Jody I am going to miss you terribly! We'll celebrate it in May when you come to visit!!!!). Grab yourself a margarita in the flavor of your choosing and celebrate this wonderful beverage!
